Sophia Loren was one of the most beautiful women of her era. She has aged very gracefully, although it does seem that she has had some work done due to her hairline on the sides of her face being further back than it was when she first appeared.
I believe she also had a rhinoplasty surgery at some point (or maybe even more than one), but the end result was still in her favor. Her nose is larger in the black and white photo and making it smaller made her other features stand out more.
The best plastic surgery finely modifies the negative so that the positives stand out.

Even though it’s obvious Sophia has had work done to look that good at her age, it’s very natural. She’s not a seventy year old woman trying to look thirty. She looks age appropriate. She was beautiful when she was younger too. It looks like the procedures she’s had have refined her features not changed them.

Gross, are you kidding me? Sophia Loren is one scary looking lady these days! In her younger days she was attractive but had a bit of a “horsey” look. I think it may have been because of a slight overbite, but she is looking absolutely NASTY now!

She looks strange! She doesn’t look good at all, she looks way overdone, like she’s trying way too hard. Her hairline is also way behind her ears! Ew. She looks icky.

I don’t think she looks that good, in fact. I believe that a more subtle apply of make-up, new spectacles and a new haircut will make her look a lot better. Why oh why isn’t there anyone that points out to her that thick black eyeliner, pencil shaped eyebrows, lines on the lips and a boig hairdo are sooooooo not done……..

how do we mail in tip-offs and images? I just found a picture that was recently taken of Wendy James (Transvision Vamp, now Racine.) She has had so many things done she looks like a completely different person!

I think Sophia looks gorgeous in her 70´s. But I dont think it´s her in that old picture. This is herwhen she was young: http://blogs.timesunion.com/capitol/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/173749sophia-loren-posters.jpg

It also looks like she might have had the dimple in her chin (that’s clearly visible on the black&white photo) filled in….

In answer to the person who asked how old Sophia Loren is, she’s 74 (you know, going to Google and typing Sophia Loren age will give you the answer almost instantaneously). For a woman that age, she looks absolutely GREAT.

She needs to lay off the fake bake!!

She does NOT look good for her age. Let’s ignore the fact that her makeup artist is completely blind and should be fired for letting Sophia leave the house with those lips and heavy eye makeup. The makeup is straight out of a Latino ghetto – dark lipliner, thick black eyeliner and clumpy mascara. The only thing Sophia has going for her are her relatively natural eyebrows – not tweezed then drawn in.
As far as plastic surgery, she has had way too many face lifts. Her hair line is completely behind her ears and past the point where the forehead becomes scalp. Her jaw line has been altered so much that her face is no longer pleasantly curved, but much sharper and jagged. Not to mention that her famous chin is no longer dimpled.
The last image in the post is definitely the best of her. You can see soft, lined skin that is completely age appropriate.
She has not aged gracefully; she has fought Father Time every day and is losing the battle.

In reply to vegasgal’s comment,
I could not agree more. Here we have a NATUALLY beautiful woman who HAS aged gracefully with a little help & anyone can see is that she is… well OLD, in her 70’s people!!! Everyone expects & thinks of people to look & be beautiful as they were in their 20’s & 30’s & GOD FORBID anything older@… My goodness, some women even look BETTER in their late 40’s, as far as I’m concerned. I could only WISH that I or any of you, could look this FABULOUS in our 70’s!!!
Keep dreaming if you think YOU can do it without, “a LITTLE help” at her age!!!

Well, it’s not that the surgeon’s work does not *show*, it’s just that she luckily didn’t take the “Joan van Ark” (who is largely referred to on this very site) route.
In my opinion, she has a peculiar look (dramatic “60s style” make-up, she still wears incredible stuff with super-deep neckines, ruffled skirts and whatever) which might not suit everyone her age, but… I guess she can still pull it off better than me – and I’m 30!

I’m sure I once read on this site, something along the lines of, “Good results are when the changes are subtle / almost unnoticable.” Which I agree with. But come on, Sophia Loren has obviously been worked on and it doesn’t look anything close to natural. Her face has been pulled back incredibly tight and makes her look almost frozen in all but the last (and the “before” photo). Some people on the http://www.awfulplasticsurgery.com site look more natural!

Goodness gracious! Does anyone not see the fold of skin right in front of her earlobe? That is NOT good plastic surgery. How does she clean that?
December 16th, 2008 - 9:44 pm
She doesn’t look as scary as other older ladies who have had cosmetic surgery, but the fact that her hairline starts quite a few inches from where it should because of a facelift terrifies me. It looks scary!

HA HA NONE OF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SOPHIA!! Of course that is her early picture and of course NO ONE today can approach what she is today much less when she was younger. HAHA!! A plastic surgeon good NEVER create an iota of what Sophia Loren was given by nature!~! This is an ITALIAN WOMAN, NOT ITALIAN AMERICAN which is mostly Irish and therefore just not as beautiful in older age.
Old world Italians are dramatic and powerful looking and they age beautifully. Whatever was done if anything was fine and natural looking as it obviously has not been ‘redone’ as Madonna and all these embalmed botox freaks will have to be in ten years.
BOTTOM LINE THOUGH!! NO ONE HAS A BODY OR FACE TODAY THAT EVEN COMES CLOSE TO A YOUNG SOPHIA LOREN!!!
RAQUEL WELCH, LYNDA CARTER AND SOPHIA LOREN PISS ALL OVER THE WASHBOARD AB FREAKS WITH NO HIP TO WAIST RATIOS THAT PASS AS SEX SYMBOLS TODAY, it’s like looking at boys.

That picture is hideous! Her make-up looks disgusting! Yes, she is a gorgeous woman & looks fabulous for her age but that photo is repulsive! Im so glad you updated the sight b/c that picture assualted my eyes for way too long when I visited the site.

Sophia Loren is magnificent looking. However, she had plastic surgery early on before her career took off where Carlo Ponti created her. I have seen some very early pictures of her, before any plastic surgery ,and she was not what anyone would consider a great beauty. She had rhinoplasty (nose surgery), probably a couple of times, breast implants, a brow lift and her teeth done. These subtle changes made a huge difference in her appearance. Also, make up, lighting and great photography created stunning images of her throughout her career. In some old movies, such as El Cid, her beauty was so extreme it was actually shocking. But keep in mind that no one is that beautiful naturally. I did see her in person when she was around 50 years old, promoting a perfume in Boston. It was quite disappointing. There were no cameras, lighting, and make up to “fool the eye” and create the magical beauty she is known for. It was right at the point in her life when she started losing her beauty.

No, no, no. That is not good plastic surgery. She looks hard and very unnatural. She is pulled way too taught. Bad makeup, bad hairstyle, not a good look. I would never want to look like that and I pray that I never will.
March 11th, 2009 - 12:58 pm
Looks great for her age?? She looks horrible!! She reminds me of those ladies from “Death Becomers Her”.
March 14th, 2009 - 3:33 pm
Roxy, I agree with you. Because I was going to say, ummm, does anyone notice the 2nd pic?? It’s obviously when she was just starting out. And that is not the Sophia Loren I know. Obviously this beauty was not born one. Just like Marilyn Monroe.
March 14th, 2009 - 3:35 pm
Sophia definitely had a rhinoplasty to take her from semi-attractive to beautiful.
June 10th, 2009 - 6:16 pm
Her makeup, fake tan, and hair color have combined to make her look like a woman much older trying to cover it up.
June 13th, 2009 - 10:30 am
I don’t see any beauty there at all. Seems to have had freakish/drastic plastic surgery. Or has she always had that severe/harsh/frightening/drag-queen look? I’m not real familiar with her because she’s way before my time. Oh well, I’ll probably be dead by that age so good for her!
June 22nd, 2009 - 12:55 am
She looks good for her age but is trying too hard to look young. The wig, heavy lipstick, et al just makes her look cheap and gawdy. I never did think she was a knock-out though.

i have to comment again on the black and white pic. i think sophia is gorgeous, she’s one of my beauty icons. we all know M Monroe had rhinoplasty, but didn’t sophia have it too? i mean if that really was her face in the b&w pic, then she was never as beautiful as she looks. it looks like she had a very good nose job. if that pic is her real look, then sophia is a fake beauty (not that i mind).
