A South Florida plastic surgeon is being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Without scrubs or a lab coat, Dr. Orlando Llorente went before a judge Wednesday after turning himself over to police Tuesday.

Detectives said Llorente is married, but is facing charges of violently beating his ex-girlfriend.

“You are ordered to have no contact with Leeanne Sauma,” the judge told Llorente.

The plastic surgeon faces charges ranging from battery and strong arm robbery to kidnapping and attempted murder.

According to the arrest affidavit the trouble started on April 21st, when an argument between Llorente and Sauma over a Facebook message turned violent.

“He became enraged, grabbed her by the hair, took her into the bathroom, and not only stuck her head inside the toilet, but then put her in the tub and was able to get a rag and stuff it down her mouth,” Miami Police Spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said.

Police say Sauma told them she was held against her will in a Brickell apartment building for twelve to sixteen hours.

“This lady was able to free herself and convince him that she was not going to press charges,” Reyes said.

But according to a separate arrest affidavit, the two were together later that night in front of a Pinecrest CVS, where Sauma claims Llorente grabbed her by the neck and crushed her iPhone after she tried to record what he was saying.

The affidavit said Sauma claimed Llorente was “coaching” her on what to tell her family about her injuries.

Llorente’s attorney Marcos Beaton issued a statement to CBS 4′s Lauren Pastrana.

“Dr. Llorente voluntarily surrendered to authorities yesterday and is resolute on clearing his name,” Beaton wrote. “He reached out to law enforcement, through his lawyers, when these false allegations surfaced. We are disappointed that our requests for more time in which to present a thorough and thoughtful examination into the source of the allegations and the facts surrounding them was declined.”

The statement went on to say Miami Police ignored messages from Llorente’s attorneys.

“We look forward to vindicating him in court,” Beaton wrote.

When we visited an address on record for the victim, the person who responded said, via an intercom, Sauma would not comment at this time.

We also visisted Llorente’s home, where several neighbors said they had seen police before.

“I think it’s horrible. Especially because he’s a surgeon,” neighbor Ed Krukowski told Pastrana. “That’s not the kind of guy I would want doing surgery on me.”

Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Llorente’s biography was on the website of Kendall Regional Medical Center.

We contacted the hospital, whose spokesman, Peter Judge, issued the following statement:

“Dr. Orlando Llorente’s employment with Burn Center’s of Florida and affiliation with Kendall’s Burn Center ended in March 2013. Dr. Llorente pursued private practice while remaining as an independent member of the Medical Staff. When his actions came to our attention we summarily suspended him. This incident did not involve any patients or employees at Kendall Regional Medical Center and we are diligent about having systems and processes in place to address issues which occur outside of our facility.”

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) With many people trying to look young and fix imperfections… Cosmetic procedures are more popular.

But changing what you don’t like about yourself may not be the best answer.

“If you are chasing after perfection and it’s not obtainable then you’re never going to be happy. You’ll always be chasing after something you can’t have,” says Janice Hendrix, Counselor/Therapist.

Janice Hendrix is a counselor and therapist in Twin Falls.

She doesn’t believe extreme changes to your appearance are necessarily a bad thing… Just that any procedures should be seriously considered.

“I’m not here to say whether or not having cosmetic surgery is right or wrong.. what I’m saying is: What’s the motivation behind the plastic surgery?”

The popularity of cosmetic procedures has increasingly grown over the last couple decades.

“We see these perfect models, the skinny models, the ones that don’t have any wrinkles and their hair is always perfect and somehow we think we’re supposed to look like that.

JACKSON, MI – Acting on behalf of the corporation, a representative for Argyle Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Inc. in Jackson pleaded no contest this week to using false pretenses to obtain money from an insurance company.

In exchange, the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office is dismissing at least 10 counts of health care fraud charges filed against both the owner and corporation’s doctor, John Sampson, and Sampson’s wife, Cecelia, the office manager.

The corporation submitted a false medical diagnosis to Blue Cross Blue Shield to justify payment of a claim, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Mark Blumer said.

Lawyers for John Sampson and the corporation could not be reached Thursday afternoon.

Circuit Judge Thomas Wilson will sentence the corporation on June 13. A corporation cannot be jailed or imprisoned, but it can be fined.

Blumer said the business was allowed to plead instead of the Sampsons because it was Argyle Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery that had a contract with Blue Cross.

My toddler had plastic surgery

My toddler had plastic surgery

It was my daughter Chloe’s second day on Earth, and already the mom anxiety had kicked in over what looked like a bruise just above her forehead. “That’s just a hemangioma birthmark. It might get a little bigger, but it will go away by the time she’s 2,” the pediatrician told me.

Google gave me more details: A hemangioma, often called a strawberry, is a benign blood-vessel tumor. One in 10 babies (usually girls) will develop one.

My husband, Justin, and I tried to laugh it off as we fell madly in love with our Baby Gorbachev. But as Chloe grew, the hemangioma showed no signs of shrinking. In fact, it had ballooned to the diameter of a golf ball, and was puffed ominously full of blood.

Actress Jane Seymour has given a new, revealing interview in which she spoke about her plastic surgery and the pride she takes in her all-natural wrinkles. Seymour has, of course, made a name for herself after starring as a Bond girl and Michaela Quinn on “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.”

“I’m proud of my wrinkles,” Seymour was quoted by Daily Mail. “They give my face character. As an actress, you mess with that at your peril. I think the good thing about my face is it has always been expressive. With Botox that goes – not what you want as an actress.”

However, that has not prevented Seymour from having some cosmetic surgery done on the rest of her body. It’s one of the ways she has managed to keep your youthful good looks while aging, and Seymour is not ashamed to admit what she has had done.

“Top and bottom [of her eyes], years ago. I was asked by photographers if I’d consider getting them done because they spent so much time touching up pictures. It wasn’t a big deal. I went out for lunch the day after surgery,” Seymour explained.

She also had breast augmentation after the birth of her first children. “It was 20 years ago. I’d breastfed my first two children and things weren’t what they had been. I’d never had a big bust – I always say they had to make smaller implants just for me, but I wanted the shape back … clothes fit and look better. It was a good move.”

If you have ever thought about doing a “little something” to spruce up your face or body, but were afraid of how it might turn out….this one is for you.

It’s a groundbreaking new way to see your very own before and after shots before you decide on whether to book a procedure.

Nina Kovalenko has been thinking about adding more curves to her body…. But is nervous about how she’ll look: “You know, you just come in, you trust the doctor, and hope everything goes well.”

But Nina didn’t have to just imagine her new look. Plastic surgeon Paul Glat showed her a 3D preview with the Vectra imaging system. Vectra’s cameras take pictures from three angles then build them into the 3-D image.

With drawing tools, Dr. Glat can simulate dozens of cosmetic procedures for both the body and face.

It can show you what a rhinoplasty or a nose job would look like. It could show you what a chin augmentation or enhancement of the chin area would look like.

“They can look at someone else’s before & after pictures, but it’s not themselves. So they really want to know, ‘What am I going to look like?’”

Vectra can also show the extent of skin conditions like rosacea.

Pauline Busby always thought she was doing a decent job on sun protection. Vectra says she could do better.

” That was a shock to see that. I didn’t think I had….i just didn’t think it was that bad.”

But Pauline was delighted to see how a small amount of wrinkle relaxers and fillers could erase a few years.

Dr. Glat says while Vectra isn’t a guarantee of the results, it make patients more comfortable about what they are considering.

“They leave here knowing what they’re going to get, and it’s really all about managing those expectations to have a happy patient.”

Patients can look at their images from a wide variety of angles, and even get before and after pictures before anything is done.

Local doctors have several versions of Vectra – some for just the face, and some also do body simulations too.

Women wondering how to maintain great-looking breasts may now have more answers thanks to a new study of identical twin sisters. After controlling for genetic factors, investigators from University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland found that breastfeeding, daily moisturizing, and hormone replacement therapy significantly decelerate the perceived aging of breasts, whereas smoking, drinking alcohol, multiple pregnancies, higher body mass index (BMI), and larger bra and cup sizes contribute to accelerated breast aging. The full results of the study, “Determinants of Breast Appearance and Aging in Twins,” appear in the September issue of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
“There appear to be several external factors that affect breast aging and appearance. The good news is that many of these factors can be controlled,” said lead author Hooman T. Soltanian, MD, of University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. “Identical twin studies like this one are very valuable because they allow us to control for genetic influences. This allows us to more accurately assess the impact of external factors on breast aesthetics, such as environmental and lifestyle factors.”
Funded by a grant from the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF), the researchers recruited 161 pairs of identical female twins (mean age: 47.6 years) in 2009 and 2010 during the Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio. Aesthetic breast features were subjectively rated in a blinded fashion by plastic surgery residents using standard medical photographs taken of the women’s’ breasts. The ratings were analyzed against data on participants’ medical and personal histories to determine the significance of different external factors on breast appearance. The researchers found that, compared to their sibling counterparts, twins who moisturized their breasts daily had significantly fewer wrinkles in that area; those who received hormone replacement therapy after menopause had more attractive breast shape, size, projection, areolar shape, and areolar size; and those who breastfed had less attractive areolar size and shape, but better skin quality. Unattractive breast ratings were associated with higher BMI, greater number of pregnancies, larger cup sizes, cigarette smoking, and alcohol consumption.
“Breast appearance is incredibly important for women. This study is significant because it clearly shows women what they can do right now to help slow the aging process and keep their breasts looking attractive, even without surgical intervention,” said Foad Nahai, MD, Editor-in-Chief of Aesthetic Surgery Journal.
Breast augmentation and breast lift procedures were among the top five most popular cosmetic surgeries for women in 2011, with 316,848 breast augmentations and 127,054 breast lifts performed, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

For people looking for a facelift, Orange County plastic surgeon, Milind K. Ambe, MD talks about your options with early maintenance facelifts and minimally invasive injectables.

More men and women are looking into early alternatives to the Orange County facelift. With minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures, you can restore the look of a youthful and vibrant face years younger. As an Orange County plastic surgery professional, Milind K. Ambe, MD provides many of these options at Newport Beach Plastic Surgery.

“Not all patients seek surgical solutions for facial rejuvenation, nor do they want to look as young as possible,” says Milind K. Ambe, MD. “Many patients are looking for small changes that make a difference.”

Traditional face lifts are designed to repair and restore advanced signs of aging. Elements such as a brow lift and eye lift surgery can get rid of deep wrinkles, creases, and excess skin. Today, prospective patients are much younger, looking for maintenance procedures to help them retain their youthful appearance. For someone in their thirties, surgical and nonsurgical procedures can help them retain their youthful look for years longer.

There are many benefits to early maintenance facelifts. For one, the results last longer. Throughout your thirties, forties, and possibly fifties, you will retain a younger looking appearance longer than those who choose not to undergo surgery. You are also more healthy and often more eligible for elective surgery in your thirties and forties than in your sixties and seventies. While a facelift later in life can restore your youthful appearance, it is a drastic change. Early surgery will improve your appearance so that you can age more gracefully over time.

Milind K. Ambe MD reports that “facelift surgery can improve the perceived result (or age of a patient) from anywhere from 10 years all the way to almost 20 years, depending on when a patient has the procedure performed and depending on how much aging change has already occurred.”

There are also non-surgical treatments that can improve the youthfulness of the face. One of the most popular injectables is Botox, a purified protein that gets rid of wrinkles and lines in the forehead and other areas of the face. Dermal fillers restore the fullness of the face. There is also the new platelet rich plasma therapy. Newport Beach surgeons can create dermal fillers using the patient’s own blood. These treatments are less invasive and less expensive. While results only last for a few months up to a year, they can help you look and feel your best throughout your thirties, forties, and fifties without the need for surgery.

“When I consult with patients, we discuss individual aesthetic goals which determines the best course of action,” says Milind K. Ambe, MD. “For prospective patients, I would say a traditional face lift is best for those in their fifties and sixties, where an early maintenance facelift would be one performed for those in their thirties or forties.”

Five years ago Julie Lindh debuted her signature approach to skincare with the introduction of SkinFitness, a 4-step program that aims to correct, repair, rejuvenate and preserve tired, stressed, damaged or prematurely aged skin. The program quickly found a following among clients including celebrities and beauty editors in the U.S. as well as abroad. Lindh has since expanded the SkinFitness menu to include a product line and licensing agreements, as well as an MD component, available exclusively through licensed medical doctors and surgeons in the New York City area.

Designed specifically for men and based on the four core concepts, the SkinFitness men’s treatment plan helps to minimize deep lines and cleanse pores, providing results similar to certain types of cosmetic plastic surgery. “Men have a tendency to develop deep winkles on the upper part of the face – specifically on the forehead and around the eyes. My program uses a new resurfacing technique that recharges cells and energizes the layers beneath the skin to produce clearer, younger looking skin, all without going under the knife.”

The ingredients in the SkinFitness RX for Men treatment are an all-natural combination of plant stem cells, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals which are medically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, slow the signs of premature aging and minimize the effects of damage caused by the sun.

The SkinFitness treatment menu is available at Lindh’s Manhattan-based office, as well as a select number of licensed locations.
